eNews – March 14, 2011 – Status Update

japan-quake-2Just a quick update as to our status:  Please forgive the “quick and terse” mailing, but there is a lot going on:

  • Fuel is scarce
  • They are shutting off the power for blackout periods
  • Food supplie lines are getting worse
  • We are scrambling with CRASH to respond to hughe amounts of communications and doing our best to coordinate operations
  • Skype is not always working
  • Phones are intermittiant

Please continue to pray as we desire to be effective for the kingdom of God here in Japan.
Please pray that God would continue to supply all needs for the people here in Japan.

burning_harbor-1For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”  2 Timothy 1:5

I am sure your first question is: “Are we ok?”  Yes, we are fine.  In our area there was no real damage or loss of life.  We went through a strong and sustained shaking.  Trains shut down, phones jammed and many people were stranded. Belinda and I spent the evening driving some of them to their homes.  The aftershocks continue, but we are so thankful that God has protected us, and those we minister to.

IMG_0275We took sweet counsel together,
And walked to the house of God in the throng.
                                            Psalm 55:14

We are back from the US.  It was a very refreshing time as well as a difficult time.  It was refreshing in the sense that we enjoyed really special time with our families, both immediate and extended.  It was difficult in that I had to say goodbye to my father.  So it is with very mixed emotions that I write today.

Aliens-1For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers,  making request if, by some means, now at last I may find a way in the will of God to come to you.
                                       Romans 1:9-10

My question is; who in this picture is really the alien in a strange land?

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

2 Timothy 1:7

In talking to people I know back in the US, and even here in Japan, there are many who are expressing what is sometimes called “FUD”, or fear, uncertainty and doubt.

“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise as some count slackness, but is long suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”

2 Peter 3:9

If you know our testimony of how long we waited on the Lord to be sent out as missionaries, then you know we are well accustomed to the long term view of ministry.  You also know that hindsight usually reveals more then our very limited ability to predict the future.  Now looking back again, we can see God’s design for us; in that waiting over 20 years to be sent out, how he was preparing us to stay the course for ministry here in Japan.

Grow up

“…We are to grow up in all aspects into Him, who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by that which every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.”
